Event & Marketing Manager 
An opportunity to join this well established and highly regarded Agricultural Society to manage their event operations, sales & marketing strategies in line with their charitable objectives. You will be working alongside the Society’s directors to assist in the day to day running of the Society as well as creating opportunities for its continued development
Foremost in the work the Society does is to put on the annual public Agricultural & Cheese Show and the prestigious Global Cheese Awards trade event. You will manage both events and look to increase income through current and new marketing/sales plans. The Society has also recently invested in the construction of a permanent exhibition building on their showground, an asset which you will help showcase to potential hirers; following up enquiries & exploring new marketing opportunities 

Key Tasks
Manage all aspects of event logistics, production, sales & marketing;
  • Create & adhere to set budgets, regularly reporting to directors
  • Dealing with suppliers; reviewing & agreeing contracts for all operational requirements
  • Manage show entertainment; booking acts & organising timetables
  • Develop & manage a marketing strategy for the events
  • Manage & look to increase the sales of show sponsorship, trade stands & tickets 
  • Organise the design & production of all marketing material – print & digital including sponsor/trade brochures, admission tickets, flyers, adverts & editorial
  • Look to increase revenue/ awareness of the Global Cheese Awards with current & potential exhibitors
  • Process event trade bookings and maintain contact databases 
  • Maintain and communicate with the Society’s database of members, judges & officials
  • Process all required affiliations & licensing
  • Produce & update all event health & safety documentation
  • Update and present the event management plan for the Cheese Show at SAG meetings, liaise with stakeholders, ensure compliance with legislation changes/emergency services requirements
  • All event administrative tasks; compile & send out schedules/trade & sponsor packs, collating trade & exhibitor ticket & pass packs etc.
  • Process exhibitor entries & compile for programme/result processing
  • Compile show programmes & catalogues; writing editorial, sourcing imagery etc.
As well as manage the overall operational & sales strategy of the Society:
  • Develop & manage the marketing strategy for the showground & exhibition building
  • Manage bookings of the showground and exhibition building
  • Present regular reports to the Society’s directors; attend & minute committee meetings 
  • Act as data controller for the Society and ensure GDPR compliance in all Society activities
  • Update website content & social media for events and other Society activities
  • Manage the Society’s Admin Office, responding to enquires both in person and via email/telephone

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years’ experience in an event & marketing role Knowledge of large scale events (trade & public)
  • Strong administrative, computer & communication skills
  • Accurate record keeping abilities & excellent attention to detail
  • An enthusiastic & forward thinking approachStrong work ethic and ability to multi-task
  • Full Driving Licence

Desirable Skills

  • Interest in the agricultural/food industries
  • Experience working with committees
With both the public cheese show and global cheese award trade day just two days apart, the role requires great flexibility in working hours especially in the lead up to the events in early September. A high work load in the summer months is to be expected
