Frome Cheese Show News
Vanilla & flavoured ice cream classes introduced for 2010 show
NEW ICE CREAM CLASSES FOR FROME CHEESE SHOW
Frome Cheese Show was founded in 1861 by local farmers to display a “Great Exhibition” of cheese and butter.
The success of the first cheese show can be gauged from the fact that it has continued ever since and now attracts 17,000 people.
From our amazing past Frome Cheese Show has now expanded upon this success, and added new ice cream classes to the show for 2010.
Building up to the show day the committee are planning to achieve over 1000 entries which will consist of Cheese, Butter, Ice Cream & Retail classes. Last years Cheese Show saw an impressive 700 entries with Judges from retail and dairy trade deliberated over all morning on the Friday before the show. The quality was impressive and Barford Farmhouse Ice Cream scooped up Gold award and Silver awards.
24 new classes are planned for this years show held on the 11th September (The Frome Cheese Show) and 10th September (Cheese Trade Day), with new ice cream retail classes for Vanilla and flavoured amongst the other classes which cover specialities, new products, retail classes etc.
After a morning of tasting and deliberating the Judges along with Exhibitors and Sponsors attend a Lunch this year kindly sponsored by Dairy Crest which nearly 200 people attend.
The lunch is followed by a guest speaker, prize giving and concluded by a tour of the many trade stands inside the cheese pavilion.
This is a great opportunity for manufacturers to show case there products and hopefully display their award winning ice cream. Classes are judged by Industry experts as well as retail buyers and our special celebrity guests.
Opportunity for sponsorship and selling is available at extremely competitive rates.
Schedules will be available at the end of June, so if you would like to request one please visit our web site www.fromecheeseshow.co.uk or phone 01373 463600.
